Carrier Community (CC) is a global telecom club established since 2008 and organising annual global carrier community meetings in Cape Town since 2015 for the members. CC is organizing 3rd annual AFRICA 2017 GCCM – Cape Town taking place at the The Table Bay Hotel Cape Town on the 5th & 6th November 2017. At the AFRICA 2017 GCCM – Cape Town event our Member Carriers will have the opportunity to meet 450+ delegates representing decision-makers from the Tier-1, Tier-2 and Tier-3.

The Carrier Members meet together from Voice, Data, SMS, Mobile, VAS, ISP, IX, Cable, Satellite, Data centers, Content Providers and other related segments.

Eckart Zollner
Head of Business Development at New Telco SA (Pty) Ltd

Eckart emigrated from Germany to South Africa in 1982 and started his career in the Telecommunication sector for Siemens in 1990. He managed the implementation of digital exchange projects for Siemens before moving to the field of analogue and digital mobile networks in 1992. After the implementation of GSM networks across Africa, he joined a South African mobile product development and manufacturing company and set up sales and distribution across Africa, Asia and Latin America. He left in 2007 to start his own SME consulting business, and after 4 years, he joined Jasco in 2011 and became responsible for the subsidiary NEW TELCO SA, dealing in the establishment of carrier neutral POP’s and services across Southern Africa and Europe. Since 2013 Eckart has expanded his role at Jasco as Head of Business development working in the fields of power solutions, security solutions, carrier infrastructure solutions as well as managed IT services.

Sander Barens
VP Commercial Developments at Expereo International

After joining Expereo 9 years ago and setting up the first international Expereo office in Singapore back in 2008, Sander now works out of the HQ in Amsterdam as the Global Head of Carrier Relations. His team is spread out globally across 5 offices and combined manage about 2,500 local partners that make up all the portfolio and buying options of Expereo International. Before joining Expereo Sander worked out of Australia for BT Global Services and Infonet Services Corp. His telecom career started in 1997 with Unisource Business Services and AT&T Unisource in Europe. Nice to know fact: before Sander went into telecom he was a helicopter pilot.

Robert Aouad

Born in Ghana, Robert AOUAD studied in France and lived and worked in the United States for several years. A born entrepreneur, he moved to Benin since 1995, where he set up various distribution and sales companies for consumer products. In 2000, he created a company specializing in the marketing of mobile terminals, SIM and recharge cards. This was his first step in the world of telecommunications. From that date, he wanted to devote himself entirely to his new passion and as a self learner, he took several initiatives to deepen his knowledge in this field. He always had the vision to promote better access to the Internet, especially for young people and low-income groups. He is the main promoter of ISOCEL Telecom, which became the leading private Internet Service Provider in Benin. A success story that relates a unique experience in the subregion through the innovation it has brought to the digital economy of this country. During the 4th quarter of 2017, ISOCEL will begin deploying a Next Generation Access Network that will use FTTx technologies, fixed and nomadic LTE, Wi-Fi hotspots and KA Band satellite.

Martin Mutiiria

As Director, Sales-Africa Martin is responsible for growing WIOCC’s customer base through direct and indirect sales of products and services in Africa. Martin’s career spans 14 years in telecommunications covering various sectors. He previously held several roles in telecom companies including Safaricom, Telkom Kenya and IwayAfrica. Prior to joining WIOCC in 2013, Martin held the position of Service Sales Manager at Nokia Siemens Networks (now Nokia Networks). He was responsible for service solutions and sales across 16 African countries. Martin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from the University of Nairobi and an MBA from the University of Sunderland. He is also CCNT accredited and holds a CIM Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing.  His interests include soccer, wildlife, golf and motor sports

Larry Schwartz

Larry is the Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Seaborn. He previously served as CEO, board member and one of the owners of the parent company of Global Marine Systems Ltd., one of the world’s largest fleets of cable ships and a leading installer of submarine fiber optic cable systems. Larry led the acquisition of Global Marine from Global Crossing in 2004 as well as the asset acquisition of Red Sky Systems, a developer of subsea network technology. He also previously served as a board member of International Cableship Pte Ltd, a JV with Singapore Telecom that provides subsea cable maintenance in South East Asia. Before entering the cable ship business, Larry served as a Senior Vice President, Operations of Genuity Inc., a Fortune 1000 and Nasdaq-listed, wholesale carrier with a global network infrastructure, and he also served as Co-Head of Genuity’s Office of Technology & Corporate Development. While there, he led the consolidation of Genuity’s Tier I Global IP Infrastructure with and into Level 3 Communications. Prior to Genuity, Larry was an equity partner with Choate Hall & Stewart, where he specialized in international communications & media transactions. He began his career with White & Case, where he worked on international project finance transactions, large-scale privatizations and M&A. Larry has also been a co-founder, board member, investor and officer of numerous other telecom, marine engineering and technology companies.

Stuart has worked in most areas of telecoms - in voice and data, wholesale and retail and fixed and mobile.
