Eckart emigrated from Germany to South Africa in 1982 and started his career in the Telecommunication sector for Siemens in 1990. He managed the implementation of digital exchange projects for Siemens before moving to the field of analogue and digital mobile networks in 1992. After the implementation of GSM networks across Africa, he joined a South African mobile product development and manufacturing company and set up sales and distribution across Africa, Asia and Latin America. He left in 2007 to start his own SME consulting business, and after 4 years, he joined Jasco in 2011 and became responsible for the subsidiary NEW TELCO SA, dealing in the establishment of carrier neutral POP’s and services across Southern Africa and Europe. Since 2013 Eckart has expanded his role at Jasco as Head of Business development working in the fields of power solutions, security solutions, carrier infrastructure solutions as well as managed IT services.

Global Head, Carrier Relations at Expereo International
After joining Expereo 9 years ago and setting up the first international Expereo office in Singapore back in 2008, Sander now works out of the HQ in Amsterdam as the Global Head of Carrier Relations. His team is spread out globally across 5 offices and combined manage about 2,500 local partners that make up all the portfolio and buying options of Expereo International.
Before joining Expereo Sander worked out of Australia for BT Global Services and Infonet Services Corp. His telecom career started in 1997 with Unisource Business Services and AT&T Unisource in Europe.
Nice to know fact: before Sander went into telecom he was a helicopter pilot.
Director Carrier Relations at Nexmo
David Vigar is the Director of Carrier Relations at Nexmo. David has managed relationships in the messaging and voice space for nine years. He built carrier relations in voice for Tele2 and at iBasis-KPN during their $93.3m merger, where he also developed internal processes and reporting. David led the early development of iBasis’ SMS business.
A keen flautist and wine collector, David holds a BA in Economics with Legal Studies from the University of Exeter, United Kingdom.
Market Development Director at Türk Telekom International
Pel has a MSC degree on Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Budapest and an MBA degree from Budapest University of Economic Sciences. He worked for 10 years at Ericsson in various positions, including the Global Installation Engineering process owner position and also different marketing, and sales managerial positions. In 2012 he moved to the operators’ side, and worked for Vivendi Telecom Hungary, Invitel International, Pantel and finally Türk Telekom International. Pal has worked for TTI since the establishment of the company and was responsible for various sales assignments, then took the position of Procurement and Pricing Director and currently he is the Market Development Director. He has worked in this position for more than 4 years, being responsible for the TTI Group’s major development projects new submarine cable projects, high capacity multi-regional transit routes and overall supporting the establishment of new business partnerships.

Simon Nainkin is currently the Director of Connectivity and Carrier Relations for Clickatell. He is also the Head of Product for their SMS Channel. Simon is extremely passionate about the mobile industry and particularly messaging. Simon still believes there is strong growth potential for A2P messaging in many global markets.
Simon has over 16 years’ commercial experience covering the Telecommunications, E-Commerce and Digital industry verticals. Simon holds a B.Com Hons In Economics and a MBA (cum laude) from the University of Stellenbosch. Simon is currently researching smartphone technology adoption models for his future PhD studies.

Greg Brophy developed his early skills at the Argus Newspaper Company, which at the time was owned by the Anglo American Group. This experience imparted to him big company structure, process, sound corporate governance and the ability to negotiate with several big trade unions, during which time he earned a reputation for integrity and fairness.
The group was sold to Sir Anthony O’ Reilly and its name changed to Independent News and Media. Martin’s career spans 14 years in telecommunications covering various sectors. He previously held several roles in telecom companies including Safaricom, Telkom Kenya and IwayAfrica.
Prior to joining WIOCC in 2013, Martin held the position of Service Sales Manager at Nokia Siemens Networks (now Nokia Networks). He was responsible for service solutions and sales across 16 African countries. Martin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from the University of Nairobi and an MBA from the University of Sunderland.
